The Fourth Colour Screen Producer Handbook 2027 is our attempt to make that knowledge clearer, more connected and genuinely usable. It follows the full production journey, from the first idea and development package through finance, rights, production, post-production, delivery and audiences.
More than a list of forms
A useful handbook cannot simply tell you which document comes next. It needs to explain what a decision changes, who carries the risk and how creative ambition survives contact with money, time and responsibility.
That is why the handbook connects practical tools to the judgement behind them. Budgets sit alongside finance plans. Access sits alongside leadership. Artificial intelligence and data sit alongside rights. Distribution begins before the film is finished, not after it has run out of money.
Built for the industry that exists now
The 2027 edition is being developed for independent producers, filmmakers moving into producing and people who have the instinct for the role but have not yet been given a route in. It also recognises neurodiverse ways of working and the need for production systems that reduce ambiguity without flattening creativity.
The principle is simple: production knowledge should open doors. When the handbook is released, it will be accompanied by practical references and continuing updates through this journal.
